PowerShield specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and operation of advanced battery monitoring systems for organisations with critical services that rely on continuous power.

Established in 1996 in Auckland, New Zealand our focus is on providing customers with the information needed to mitigate the risks of battery failure and to optimise battery life.

Applications include monitoring batteries used for emergency backup or direct supply in data centres and in the telecommunications, utility and other sectors. PowerShield is independently owned and works with all the leading power conditioning and backup power companies.

Manufacturing of system components is done in-house at our factory in Auckland, giving us control of quality and the ability to be flexible and agile for our customers.


We operate globally and have installed battery monitoring solutions with customers in over 30 countries around the world. International customers include Bank of America, Barclays, Bloomberg, BT, CenturyLink, Chevron, Equinix, Huawei, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley and NASA to name a few.

PowerShield’s in-house development team undertakes ongoing research and development to provide cost-effective solutions for battery maintenance and management.  Additionally, our chief technology officer is a working group member of the IEEE Stationary Battery Committee ensuring the company is at the forefront of the industry, continuously working toward the aim of providing smarter battery management solutions.
